What the heck?

Churchill is not an easy place to get to. Our visitors could have travelled anywhere in the world but they choose Churchill and for that we are, as a community, truly honoured and grateful. That said, we are living in 'interesting' times.
Anyone who has visited my store in the Churchill Airport terminal in the past year may have noticed my T-shirt. The response to it has been overwhelmingly positive but I thought I might drop a clarification here about it nevertheless.

Like many Canadians, I have friends and family 'stateside' and I love them dearly. More than anything else my shirt is a pushback against the aggression and disrespect displayed and fomented by that single individual referenced on the shirt.

To paraphrase the late, great, Todd Snider:

”I don’t wear this shirt to change anybody’s mind about anything, I wear this shirt to ease my own mind about everything and it always works.”

We appreciate and welcome you all, wherever you are visiting from. I hope that the sentiment received is not one of anti-Americanism but is accepted as the expression in defence of Canadian sovereignty that is intended.

Sincerely,

Welcome to Churchill.

Welcome to Canada.🇨🇦
